Building Control

This solution provides an integrated electronic case management system for Building Control Officers to improve workflow, data sharing and decision making while greatly simplifying administration procedures.

This solution augments the use of the Tablet PC, as the data capture device, with a digital camera allowing Building Control Officers (BCO) to photograph dangerous structures or record situations where remedial work is required. The BCO can annotate the picture to illustrate the problem.

The BCO's are also equipped with a GPRS phone to allow information to be rapidly shared with the office and a mobile printer so that documents, such as Completion Certificates, can be delivered during the visit.

The Fascia based application features:

• Intelligent forms covering the key tasks of the BCO's. These include site Inspections, Site tests (e.g. drains), Environmental checklists, etc...
• A work scheduler allowing shared management of diaries across the BCO's and Administrators.
• A library of key information including the latest building regulations, lists of building materials and suppliers, professional development resources, useful web site links.
• Integration to the council's planning system.
• Mobile data encryption with either password or biometric signature protection.
• Automatic updates to ensure that all forms and programs used by Building Control are the latest version.
• The facility for staff to create, view and amend case records using office based PCs.

This application relieves BCO's from desk based administrative tasks and thereby increases operating efficiency. They now have the flexibility to work on-site, at home and in the office using the same productivity platform in all circumstances. Workflow, data sharing, professional development and productivity are all enhanced.
